Bhopal: Slogans like ‘Abki Baar, Scinida Sarkar’, raised in the programmes of Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, indicate that the race for CM’s post is gaining pace among Congress leaders. When Kamal Nath was appointed as state Congress president and Scindia was made chairman of the election campaign committee in April-end, it was thought that it had settled everything.

With Kamal Nath taking charge, it was considered that the party might not announce its CM candidate but Nath was the face of Congress for the top post and Nath has acceptability among the state Congress leaders too. The statement given by Congress’s state in-charge Deepak Babaria, when all was seemed to have settled in the party, factionalism has cropped up once again.

Babaria’s statement, that either Nath or Scindia will become CM if the Congress comes to power, has triggered the race for becoming CM candidate in the party.  Scindia’s announcement of tickets to new faces and the statement that he has prepared a blue print for running the government for five years proves that he is willing to become the CM candidate.

Scindia attends all meetings of important committees of the party after Nath becoming state president, but Scindia convened the meeting of the election campaign committee in the absence of Nath. He also started holding meetings in divisions and made a plan for state tour to establish communication in the areas where his standing is not strong.

Scindia’s desire has given rise to factionalism within the party, which was said to have ended. Followers of Scindia are also publishing on social media, that Scindia would be the next chief minister. The followers of Scindia have begun to say that Nath has not toured the state for the past two months.

Congressmen are publisising that Nath is busy conducting meetings. Scindia has been projected as a young and good orator within the party. A few days ago, it was also publisized that the position of the BJP in Chambal and Gwalior regions has declined.

Congress’s former state president Arun Yadav is said to be annoyed with the party leadership. Yadav, before his removal, was under the impression that he will become the Chief Minister if party comes to power. The Congress leaders maintain that the race for the CM candidate will harm the party in the forthcoming election.

Who are with Kamalnath?

Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, leader of opposition Ajay Singh, former state president Kantilal Bhuria and Suresh Pachauri are said to be with Nath.

Who are with Scindia?

Scindia is not backed by any big Congress leaders. He has Satyavrat Chaturvedi, working president Ramniwas Rawat and Govind Singh Rajput in his support, who are second -line leaders.
