BHOPAL: Rajya Sabha MP, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has started pulling out all the stops to ensure his acceptability in the BJP.
He defected to the BJP 15 months ago after toppling the 15-month-old Congress government in the state.
Now, he has begun to make efforts to bolster his base in the party.
In his trip to the state capital this month, he has spared no effort to get closer to BJP and RSS leaders.
Senior politicians generally visit the residence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and that of state party president VD Sharma.
Nevertheless, when he visited the state capital, he went to the residences of ministers like Gopal Bhargava, Arvind Bhadoria and Narottam Mishra.
Besides, he visited the RSS office to meet the Sangh leaders, went to the residence of former minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya in Gwalior and to the house of former minister Laxmikant Sharma in Sironj to pay tribute to the departed leader.
Scindia, however, avoided meeting his aunt Yashodhara Raje Scindia during his trip to the state capital.
She was also in Bhopal on Wednesday, but Scindia did not meet her.
In his earlier trips, he gave more importance to the senior BJP leaders than his loyalists.
Before coming to Bhopal from Delhi, he fixes his dinner with the BJP leaders.
The ministers are informed in advance that Scindia wants to visit their residences. After that, he fixes his programme.
Two of the ministers whose residences Scindia has, so far, visited belong to Bundelkhand and two others belong to the Gwalior-Chambal region.
Despite Scindiaís defection to the BJP, the party has yet to accept him. The party workers are still connected with the senior leaders.
By visiting the residences of the party leaders, Scindia wants to ensure his acceptability among the workers.
There are speculations about his efforts to get recognition from the BJP leaders.
According to some political analysts, Scindia wants to become the chief minister of MP.
He knows that the senior leaders of the party will get into his way of becoming the chief minister. Therefore, he is trying to woo them.
On the other hand, it is being said that Scindia wants to do politics in the BJP on the pattern of the Congress.
In the Congress, he turned into a leader of a particular group, but now, he wants to become the leader of the BJP. For this reason, he has begun to do the politics of meeting.
