Bhopal: Five members of a marriage party, including a bride were killed and three others injured when their jeep collided with a truck near Laharcha village under Chanchoda police station in Guna on Friday. The accident took place on the Agra-Mumbai national highway in the morning hours when the marriage party was returning to Talen town in Rajgarh district.
The deceased were identified as the bridegroom Bhuribai (21), Kajal Lodha (14), Gajraj Lodha (49), Gopal, the driver (45) and Kailash (50). Two injured have been referred to Indore and one to Bhopal. Brijendra, the bridegroom escaped miraculously sustaining minor injuries. There were nine persons in Tavera jeep.
Chanchora SHO Pravin Chauhan said the marriage party was coming from Binkhyai village in Guna district when their jeep (Tavera) collided head-on with a truck. Five people, including bride, died in the incident. The truck involved in the accident had been seized, however, its driver escaped from the spot after the accident. Famers working on garlic field rushed to the rescue of injured. They called up dial-100. Immediately police team rushed to spot.
Miraculous escape for bridegroom, boy
It was miraculous escape for the bridegroom Brijendra, whose newly wedded wife died in the accident. Similarly, a 7-year-old boy also had a providential escape as he was made to deboard the ill-fated jeep by his father Narain Singh hours before the accident. However, his 14-year-old sister Kajal was among the dead.
