BHOPAL: BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that he has no complaints against anyone regarding MP Cricket Association (MPCA) elections. Talking to Free Press, he said that the MPCA elections were not fought on party basis and the BJP was not contesting the elections. He said he was not aware who had helped whom in the polls.
MP State Civil Supplies Corporation chairperson Hitesh Bajpai had alleged that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had helped Jyotiraditya Scindia in the elections, implying that Chouhan was instrumental in Vijayvargiya’s defeat.
After this, the Congress had challenged Chouhan to come out with facts. AAP had said that it was clear that the BJP and the Congress are in cahoots with each other.
Source said that some BJP leaders had mounted pressure on Vijayvargiya not to contest against Scindia. Many of them did not want Vijayvargiya to win the elections as that would have served to enhance his political stature.
Chouhan, Scindia keep mum
Interestingly, while Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Scindia are freely trading charges during campaigning for the Ater bye-polls, none of them has, so far, referred to Hitesh Bajpai’s statement. Chouhan has not denied that he had helped Scindia and Scindia has not said that Chouhan had not aided him.
No explanation, no contradiction
The BJP has, so far, neither contradicted Hitesh Bajpai’s statement nor has it come out with any explanation on the issue. The BJP leaders say that it is for Bajpai to explain or contradict his statement. Bajpai is considered close to BJP national vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and that has led to some party leaders speculating that Bajpai’s statement may be indicative of new political equations emerging in the party.
