Bhopal: The police personnel, who will now receive a week-off from Thursday, have no such plan for their leave. In fact, the cops who have a large service period feel they are not even comfortable at home as they have become so accustomed to be at office 24×7. The cops who are below 40 years of age, however feel they can use the off for the daily works of their homes, that remain pending for long owing to their demanding job.

A cop told Free Press that instead of providing the week-off, government should hike our allowance as they are very low as compared to the inflation. He added that the leaves which are already approved should be given, as providing weekly-off will the burden other cops.

The district police are already reeling under staff crunch as the sanctioned force is 3834 for the 44 police stations across the city. The figure is very low as compared to the graph of crime, on the top of that only 2585 personnel are available in the police stations against the sanctioned force. Now, the week-off will cause a further crunch of 367 staff in a day. However, cops have planned to use the time with family watching movie or going for a lunch on that first day of their leave.
