As many as 65 positive patients were identified and treated for swine flu in the state. Government hospitals like Hamidia and JP Hospital are witnessing rise in number of Outpatient Department (OPD) patients complaining of cold and cough. Two persons suffering from swine flu died in the state in last few days. Since January, 24 swine flu deaths have been reported in state capital.
Health teams have been pressed for screening and collection of swab. Isolation wards with sufficient medicines and facilities have set up in JP Hospital and Hamidia Hospital for patients tested positive for swine flu. Health department has reiterated that virology lab facility will be started in Hamidia Hospital in December. It will speed up testing in case of swine flu, dengue and also Zika virus.
According to Gandhi Medical college administration, hi-tech virology lab will be started by the December for the speedy test results of the suspected patients. GMC Administration has already pressed its demand for kits from health department, Delhi. CMHO Dr Sudheer Jasani said, “We are focusing on screening to detect the actual patients who are infected. Once patients are properly screened, diagnosis becomes easy and treatment could then be started.”
Proper facilities have been ensured for the immediate treatment to the patients, said Jasani, adding that sufficient medicines and other necessary things are made available at the hospital. Our doctors have been instructed to be alert while diagnosing cold and cough cases, he said.
