Bhopal: High Court orders fresh inquiry into Congress MLA caste row

Bhopal: High Court has ordered fresh inquiry into caste row involving Ashok Nagar Congress MLA Jajpal Singh Jajji. Caste controversy surfaced after Ramesh Kumar Itoria, Congress district committee, Ashok Nagar complained with the union minister and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, who in turn had forwarded the matter to the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. BJP leader Baijnath Sahu had also lodged a complaint in this regard. Chouhan, had forwarded the complaint to the Principal Secretary, Adim Jati Kalyan Vibhag on October 19, 2010 and thereafter, the matter reached High Power Caste Scrutiny Committee for enquiry. As per High Power Committee, initially, Jajji had submitted his nomination form as a candidate of “General Category” for the post of Member Krishi Upaj Mandi, and thereafter, in year 1999, he claimed himself to be ‘SC’ while submitting his nomination paper for the post of Member Zila Panchayat, Ashoknagar.

Thereafter, he contested the election for the post of President Municipal Council as an “OBC” candidate, and again on November 6, 2008, he obtained the SC certificate. Thus, it appears that the petitioner has changed his Caste from time to time as per his convenience. Advocate VK Bharadwaj said, that High Court has order fresh probe into the caste controversy of Jajji and till then he cannot take advantage of Scheduled Caste.
