BHOPAL: Gwalior Congress Committee proposed the name of Priyadarshani Raje Scindia as party Lok Sabha candidate from Gwalior seat. A day after AICC announced the names of nine candidates from MP for the upcoming polls, the party district unit in a meeting on Sunday passed a proposal seeking nomination of Priyadarshani Raje, wife of Jyotiraditya Scindia from Gwalior.
The district Congress committee president Devendra Sharma on Sunday called an urgent meeting which was attended by Cabinet ministers including Praddhuman Singh, Lakhan Singh, Imarti Devi MLA Munnalal Goyal and others. Putting its weight behind Priyadarshan Raje, the party unit passed a proposal favouring her name as party candidate from Gwalior constituency and sent it to AICC national president Rahul Gandhi for consideration.
AICC is still to decide 20 candidates for Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, Jyotiraditya Scindia reached Gwalior on short notice and me Congressmen. Ashok Singh, who is also a strong contender for ticket also met Scindia. However, Singh give DCC meeting a slip.
Name of Jyotiraditya Scindia is making rounds for three Lok Sabha seats- Guna, the constituency the Congress leader is currently representing in Parliament, Gwalior and also Indore. The last two seats are in BJP fold and represented by Narendra Singh Tomar and Sumitra Mahajan respectively.
