Bhopal: An unusual calm prevailed in Asaram’s asharam in the city on the day of judgement in his case. After the five years of his arrest, the popularity of Asharam has waned. Only around 50 followers were present in the asharam on Wednesday.
The prayers began early in the morning with around 50 followers chanting the ‘aarti of asaram.’ The others were mediating and praying for release of Asaram. However, one follower said that on the appeal of the manager many followers were praying for him from their homes.
For updates, the followers were in continuous touch with their contacts in Jodhpur since morning. Near about a dozen followers from other places have come to Bhopal to show their solidarity with other followers in the asharam.
Some schoolchildren even took leave to accompany their parents to the asharam. Aishwarya, a ten-year-old child said that she fasting without food or water and praying for Asharam release. While talking to Free Press before the verdict the followers completely denied the charges against the Asharam.
After the court sentenced Asaram with life imprisonment, the followers got into a denial mode and did not accept the media reports. Their frustration and disappointment was evident and some of the followers even tried to remove the media persons from common prayer hall which is in the middle of the asharam. Around two dozen policemen and two Dial-100 police van were also deployed in the asharam to prevent any mishap.
