Fake currency racket busted
Rajgarh police on Tuesday have claimed to have busted a gang involved in printing and circulating the fake currencies in Bhopal division ahead of polls. Five men: Sushil Vishwakarma, Nashir Khan, Ram Babu Mina, Raees Khan and Santosh have been arrested with fake currencies Rs 31.12 lakh. Besides, Ink, printer, laptop and other machines used in printing the fake currencies have also been seized.
Two other alleged accomplices: Mustaq of Bhopal and Virendra Patel are on the run. Police alleged they had responsibility to circulate the fake currencies in market. IG Jaideeep Prasad said, “Acting on a tip off that a gang has left from Hoshangabad for Bhojpur to circulate fake currencies in market, a police team led by SP Rajgarh Shimla Prasad, swung into action and intercepted an alto car 800.”
“Three accused Sushil Vishwakarma, Nashir Khan and Ram Babu Mina were arrested with fake currency denomination of 2000 and 500, worth Rs14.96 lakh, ” he added. The revelations made by trio during the interrogation lead to the arrest of two more members of the gang.
Police claimed that during a raid conducted on the basis of the information provided by the trio- two other members were found engaged in printing in Babai, Hoshangabad. Police seized fake currency worth Rs16.19 lakh from them. A total of fake currency worth Rs31.12 lakh has been recovered. While the total seizure including cash is worth Rs 35.93 lakh. Case under 489, 34 of IPC and arms act has been registered against the accused.
