Economic Offence Wing is likely to register FIR in recruitment scam and financial anomalies in Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCNUJC). The agency is mulling over directly registering an FIR instead of filing registering preliminary inquiry. On Thursday the university registrar had filed a complaint to EOW seeking registration of case in connection with the irregularities.
EOW, SP Arun Mishra informed that they are studying the complaint received from the university. The details cannot be shared, but shortly the agency would initiate action into the matter, he added. Sources informed that EOW may not file the preliminary inquiry and can directly go for registering FIR in the matter.
On Thursday, the varsity registrar had handed over a four-page complaint with supporting documents to the EOW stating that former vice chancellor BK Kuthilyala during his eight years tenure had violated UGC norms while making appointments at the varsity. The university funds were misused in non- academic and non-productive works, stated the complaint.
