Bhopal: Various farmers’ organisations of the country have decided to take out a Kisan Yatra from Mandsaur, where six farmers were killed in police firing on June 6, to Champaran in Bihar.
This was announced at a press conference here on Tuesday, which was attended, among others, by MP and Shetkari Sangathan leader Raju Shetty, UP peasant leader MLA BM Singh, Sunilam of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha and Yogesh Diwan of Jan Pahal, among others.
They said the Yatra would be taken out in support of the demand for implementation of the recommendation of Swaminathan Committee, ensuring that farmers got at least one-and-a-half times their input cost as the price of their produce and ensuring that they were not dispossessed of their land.
The leaders reminded that the CM’s announcements regarding criminal cases to be lodged against traders buying farm produce at less-than-MSP prices was yet to be implemented.
