Bhopal: Amidst reports of alleged multi-crore farm loan scam coming to fore, an in charge manager of Baghora Cooperative Society in Bhind shot himself to death on Thursday fearing implication in the case. This is second suicide in Bhind after unearthing of alleged irregularities in disbursement of farm loan by cooperative societies.
Raisingh alias Lallu, in charge manager of Baghora Society of Mehgaon, ended his life by shooting self. There were allegations of the cooperative society committing financial irregularities in farm loan disbursement. Earlier, Yogesh Singh Bhadoria, in charge manager of Deenpura Cooperative Society of the district had committed suicide by hanging self.
Cooperatives minister Govind Singh confirmed it was second suicide in Bhind, after the alleged involvement of cooperative societies in farm loan scam surfaced. Singh said the irregularities in farm loan have come up in both the cooperative societies.
The manager of the two societies had allegedly withdrawn a large amount of money in the name of farm loan, he elaborated. Singh said the enormity of the scam could be ascertained only after February 5 with the completion of work of submitting forms by the farmers.
After the starting of the process of submitting of forms of farmers for loan waiver, FIRs at 8 places against the managers of Societies have been lodged. Farm loan scams have come up in around a dozen districts. Chief Minister Kamal Nath had also admitted that farm loan scam may touch Rs 2000 crore mark.
