Bhopal: E-permit for mandis- an ambitious scheme that was shelved during previous regime was proposed once again to be rolled back the same day. It was proposed to begin from January 1. This scheme was made to stop manipulation by traders during buying and selling of agri-products.
The E-permit for mandi scheme was launched earlier as a pilot project but had to be withdrawn immediately after protests by several trader organisations pointing out shortcomings in the overall system during Shivraj regime.
Trader organisations met and opposed it once again after proposal to be implemented from January 1. The state government that issued order on Saturday had to take it back after representatives of organisations met officials of the mandi board. Director of the Mandi Board said that the faults that were pointed out by the trader unions will be removed and then it will be implemented. “There were some specific objections related with commercial transactions section that will be removed before implementation,” he said.
Traders have been given the authority to issue permits for transporting agriculture produce. Those traders who do not have internet facility or could not do it for any reason can approach the mandi officials- who will release it online. Moreover, the mandi administrative works too have been turned online from now onwards.
E-permit scheme came to the fore after massive financial irregularities were exposed in Shivraj government’s Bhavantar scheme. Lot of cases surfaced in which produce was brought from the neighbouring states and sold in MP. The receipts shown by the transporters proved to be fake. In manual receipts mandi board used to verify it by sending it through post- fake receipts even caught couldn’t serve the purpose then. New system of e-permit would check this fault.
