BHOPAL: A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was shot dead by by an acquaintance at his residence in Awadhpuri area on late Wednesday evening. The DSP, Goralal Ahirwar (61), was posted at PHQ in CID branch. The killing is said to be the fall-out of family and property dispute. The accused was identified and efforts were on to arrest him, police said. The incident occurred around 8.30 pm. The accused had gained aces to his home as he was known to the police officer. The man after entering the house opened fire at the DSP.
IG Bhopal Jaideep Prasad said as per the statement of family members, DSP’s friend Hamanshu Singh had come to their house around 7.30 pm and soon after the two had heated arguments over some dispute. DSP’s daughter who was present at the spot, in her statement told police that Singh shot her father at point blank range in the chest and fled from the spot, IG informed. The officer was rushed to nearby hospital where he died during treatment. The family members have claimed that the killing took place over family and property dispute, however, details will be come to fore after statements of all concerned are recorded, he added. The details of the gun used in the crime will be ascertained after the autopsy. Police team led by DIG Irshad Wali have been formed to look for the absconding accused.
