Bhopal: Calls on MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) Helpline have shot up 800 per day, a week after the announcement of class X and XII results. The helpline has received 48, 500 calls from students since its launch in January 15 last.
In-charge of the helpline, Hemant Sharma told Free Press, “On the day when the results were announced, we received 2000 calls from students and parents. Last year, we received 75000 calls between February to August.” “The queries related to retotalling, revaluation, career counselling, supplementary exam forms and schedule of Ruk Jana Nahi Scheme, date, time and venue for counselling under ‘Mukhyamantri Career Counselling Pahal,” Sharma said.
He said that the helpline would remain open till the declaration of the result of supplementary exams. Gaurav Shrivastava, a counsellor in the helpline, said, “ Class 10 students mostly enquire about how to choose subjects for further studies. Class 12 students queries are related to career.” We also get calls from the students who secured less marks or have filed in the in the board exams.”
He further said, “Some parents and students are also visiting the office for this purpose. One of the parents said that their child wants make a career in films but they wish that he should become an engineer. We counsel parents to allow their children to choose their career according to their own interest, ability and personality. Nowadays, there are various options available in each field.”
“We also have received queries regarding ‘Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojna,’ and ‘Best of Five’. We have also got queries related to syllabus in which NCERT will be taught from this year in class 10 and 12,” Shrivastava said.
