BHOPAL: About 9,000 members of Indian Medical Association held a state-wide silent protest against the establishment of Indian Medical Council. President, Madhya Pradesh Chapter, IMA, Dr PC Chandel  said that the council will be headed by 20 members who will be appointed by the central government and regulate the doctors but present democratic structure of Indian Medical Association will be destroyed if this council is formed. “Presently, through elections members are elected. If this ends, the government will be in a position to dominate the doctors and bring in homeopathic, Unani and Ayurvedic doctors to practice allopathy”, said Chandel. Doctors began their protest from Gandhi Medical College and held a silent march against the decision.
