Amidst rising political temperature, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh filed nomination paper for Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday. Large number of leaders from state capital and his home town Rajgarh arrived at the time of filing nomination. All the leaders had assembled at residence of former union minister Suresh Pachouri. Four local leaders – former mayor Vibha Patel, Congress leader Jaishri Harikaran, former union minister Suresh Pachori, minister for minority Arif Aqueel seconded the nomination.

Earlier, Singh visited Jharneshwar temple to take blessing from spiritual leader Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati and then drove to residence of Suresh Pachouri. From there, he walked in a rally-cum-road show to collectorate to file nomination in scorching heat with large number of supporters.
The leaders present on the occasion included Suresh Pachouri, minister Arif Aqueel, Digvijaya’s son and minister Jaivardhan Singh, minister PC Sharma, his brother and MLA Laxman Singh and MLA Arif Masood. At collectorate, supporters had heated arguments with police personnel who restricted their entry.
Only five were allowed at a time. In first slot, only Vibha Patel, Jaishri Harikaran, lawyer Vinit Godha, Digvijaya Singh and wife Amrita Rai went inside collector office. And then on rotation basis, his son Jaivardhan Singh, brother Laxman Singh, Suresh Pachouri were allowed to go inside the collector office.
‘Devpt, jobs to be focus’
MLA Laxman Singh said, “Our main focus will be development and employment. This will be poll plank. In reply to Pragya Thakur comment’s on ATS chief late Hemant Karkare, Laxman Singh said, “Hemant Karkare is martyr.”
‘Karkare made supreme sacrifice’
Former union minister Suresh Pachouri said, “Main agenda is development and employment. With these issues, we will go to people to solicit votes.” In reply to Sadhvi Pragya Thakur comment’s on ATS chief late Hemant Karkare, Pachouri said, “Karkare made supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists.”

Minister Arif Aqueel said, “Pragya Thakur was instructed to make comments on ATS chief Hemant Karkare. She has been told to insult Hemant Karkare. So, she is doing to generate controversy in election.”
