Bhopal: The BJP-led NDA winning Lok Sabha elections with a huge majority, has sent shock waves in the Congress-led state government. Congress has formed the government in the state with 114 MLAs and took support of BSP, SP and independent MLAs to run the government. Chief Minister Kamal Nath is running the government for four months but he may face several challenges in the coming time. Nath may face challenges not only from BJP leaders but Congress leaders also. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia have lost elections, who also have their followers as ministers in the state government.
The impact of defeat of these leaders in the election will be seen on the state politics in the time to come. Digvijay and Scindia together have 50 MLAs as their followers. Their defeat has put these followers in a fix. Nath is facing a big challenge in working with these MLAs now. When Congress formed state government after assembly polls, Congressmen were expecting that their party would also come to power at the centre and the economic problems in Madhya Pradesh would be solved. With NDA coming to power again at the Centre, grant of additional financial assistance to Madhya Pradesh is not possible. The state government is facing a big challenge in terms of finance. Nath had promised farm loan waiver to the farmers. The process will begin after code of conduct coming to an end. The state government does not adequate fund for farm loan waiver and in that situation, farmers’ resentment may emerge.
The ‘Vachan Patra’ prepared by Congress government in the state is also difficult to fulfill with current resources in the state and it could not be fulfilled without centre’s assistance. Nath is now facing challenges of overcoming financial problems and keeping his government stable.
