Bhopal: Despite info panel, cabinet order, merit list not released

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), state’s recruitment agency is on the back foot on recruitment process of professors in 2017. Despite orders from the information commission and cabinet decision MPPSC hasn’t prepared merit list of the candidates selected for the post.

“If the process of selection of professors was fair and nothing wrong has been done then why is MPPSC shying away from providing details of the selected candidates,” alleged DP Singh, activist, who has filed complaints at various levels including a petition in High Court.

MPPSC prepares a merit list and make it public along with results to maintain transparency.  Merit list is made so that candidates can compare their marks with the ones selected. But all these norms were thrown to wind during selection of professors as results were declared but no merit list was prepared.

MPPSC has also violated government instructions despite a cabinet decision on the matter.  The state cabinet in its meeting on 10 April, 2018 had taken a decision that merit list should be prepared and made public. MPSC not doing so raises doubts on the overall process.

‘Penalise MPPSC’

An application was filed in the month of August under right to information by activist DP Singh. He had asked for merit list of the selected candidates in four categories on the basis of applications. But MPPSC did not even appear in the appeals. “The Information commission had ordered the MPPSC to provide me the merit list that I have sought under RTI. MPPSC officials didn’t appear at the commission to provide it, therefore now I have demanded from commission to penalise the MPPSC for violating orders,” said Singh.
