Bhopal: Policemen face all odds and every stone pelted on chief minister is received by cop and not the CM, said Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Chief minister was speaking at the inaugural session of the IPS two-day meet at Vidhan Sabha hall on Friday.

During the meet officers will hold discussions on Cyber security, de-radicalisation, besides cultural activities have also been planned.
Terming cyber threat as new challenge before the police, Chouhan called upon the officers to get ready to face and deal with it. “A single message uploaded on WhatsApp and on twitter creates problems for people and we have to answer it again and again,” he added.

Appreciating the police personnel and innumerable sacrifices made by them, Chouhan said, “We are able to celebrate festivals like Diwali, Holi and others occasions because cops are on duties. They too want to celebrate the festivals with their families, but they sacrifices all for the security of the people.”

Chouhan said that the government wants to eradicate dacoity from northern Madhya Pradesh completely. “All the listed dacoits and their gangs have been finished, if some small gangs are still operating they too will be finished soon,” he said. Speaker Sitashran Sharma spoke on the role of police in a democracy. Pointing at the fake news and misuse of the social media, Sharma said that in the name of the freedom of expression, social media has been turned into a tool to insult and defame.

Laws are made for the protection of the common men, but the notorious people sabotage the law in their favour, he added. Speaking about RTI campaigners, the Speaker said that RTI was enacted for the benefit of common man and needy persons, but it has led to emergence of RTI activists.

These activists are though causing some problems, but some of them are also raising genuine issues, said Sharma. DGP Rishi Shukla spoke about the problems and difficulties of the cops. “Police have to face insult, ridicule while performing their duties which affects their morale.” He too said that the officer the officer have new challenges to face.
