Bhopal: Congress has begun its preparations for the elections, following BJP replacing its state president and announcing election management committee. Congress is preparing an election strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls, which may come to the fore in the first week of May.
According to this election strategy, Congress will give command of state elections in the hands of Kamalnath and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Congress would enter election arena putting forward these two leaders. Kamalnath may be appointed as state president while Scindia may be given charge of election campaign committee.
The followers of Digvijay Singh, who recently completed a six-month long Narmada Parikrama, may get disappointment from Congress high command. The followers of Singh are under the impression that they would be getting important assignment by Congress high command related to state Assembly elections. Rather, Singh will not be put in the frontline in the elections this time. He would be involved in preparing strategy from backstage but Congress would avoid him projecting his face.
BJP since 2003 Assembly elections has contested elections terming Digvijay Singh as ‘Bantadhar’. Almost all Congress leaders opine that if Singh is kept in the frontline then it would lead to loss to Congress.
It is also planned to keep Congress state president Arun Yadav limited to Nimar region while leader of opposition (LoP) will be limited to Vindhya region. Congress will be assign charge of every region to a leader, who would take care of the elections in that region. Kamalnath will command in Mahakaushal while Scindia will command in Gwalior, Chambal and Malwa. Besides, they will also be in the main roles in the Assembly elections.
Along with this, Congress will also form various committees. Vivek Tankha will head legal committee against the government. Suresh Pachauri may be assigned the responsibility of party office and media.
Congress state in-charge Deepak Babaria is preparing the election strategy. After BJP making changes, Congress leaders have informed Delhi that Congress is lagging behind in the state which may cause problems in the upcoming elections. All top Congress leaders will be coming in a programme of lawyers organised by Tankha on Saturday. The new election team of Congress may come up after these leaders going back to Delhi.
