Bhopal: Congress MLA’s son, aides fire at toll plaza

Bhopal: Son of Congress MLA Endal Singh Kansana and about 40 masked-men rained a hail of bullets for nearly 20 minutes on a toll plaza in Chhonda area on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Morena on Sunday. Though there was no casualty in the incident, panic spread in the area and people including bikers, pedestrians and toll workers ran helter-skelter down the highway to save themselves from the volley of bullets.

While trying to save himself from the attackers, a worker of the plaza jumped off the office roof and sustained minor injuries. Besides, traffic movements stopped for more than two hours, in the aftermath of the incident, locals and police sources told Free Press. They targeted the server control room of the Pathway Toll Plaza. A luxury vehicle and some office equipment were damaged in the incident. The police are trying to identify the culprits with the help of CCTV footage.

Sources said that Kansana was raged over toll plaza workers for not allowing his vehicles to pass the toll plaza without paying the fees. Son of Congress MLA, Rahul Kansana had called the manager of toll plaza SS Sikarwar and had threatened him of dire consequences if he does not allow his vehicles to pass without paying fees, said the toll management.

However, when the manager refused to oblige, nearly 40 people reached the office and started firing indiscriminately. Security forces deployed at the toll office also fired to shoo away the attackers. Police said that they have registered a case under attempt to murder and other relevant sections of IPC. Rahul Kansana and his accomplices are missing after the incident.
