Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhuvanesh Patel, husband of Congress mayoral candidate Vibha Patel, was hospitalised on Tuesday after he complained of chest pain. In diagnosis, ventricular tachycardia has been detected in this case.
Cardiologist Dr Skand Trivedi said treatment was being done through electric shock therapy (de-fibribrallator). Ventricular tachycardia is a heart rhythm problem (arrhythmia) caused by irregular electrical signals in the lower chambers of the heart (ventricles). A healthy heart typically beats 60 to 100 times a minute.
Defibrillation involves use of an electrical current to help heart return to a normal rhythm when a potentially fatal arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) occurs in heart's lower chambers (ventricles).
Defibrillation is a treatment for cardiac dysrhythmias, specifically ventricular fibrillation and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia. A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current (often called a counter-shock) to the heart.
