Bhopal: Huge, tall illegal hoardings, banners defacing the city’s skyline will greet the cleanliness survey 2019 team arriving here in next few days. The streets dotted with banners and posters of Congress leaders are clearly stating that these leaders they have scant regard for words of chief minister, who gave a clarion call to all to ensure state’s top ranking in cleanliness survey.

In a tweet, the chief minister has urged the residents of the state for their cooperation so that the state can fetch the ranks in cleanliness survey, like previous years. The chief minister called upon the residents to ensure that state maintains its rank in the fresh cleanliness survey, however, it seems his own party leaders have turned a deaf ear to his call. Notably, two cities Indore and Bhopal have made state proud by securing first two positions in last cleanliness surveys for two consecutive years. Now, with the change of guard, the state new government is keen on continuing with the winning spree for the third time in a row.

According to sources, there are over 40000 illegal hoardings and flexes defacing city’s skyline. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has only permitted 250 hoardings, 160 gantries, 156 unipoles and 1200 signage in the city.
BMC deputy commissioner, Milind Dhoke said that the issue has come to his notice and soon action will be initiated. BMC had given contract for gantries, hoardings to others, but they are being misused, said Dhoke, adding that action will be taken if anyone is found misusing the contract.

Kewal Mishra, director of Bhopal city link limited (BCLL) claimed during BJP rule, they would ensure that the streets remain clean and if anyone was found using public space for hoardings, we ensured their removal the very next day. However, I can’t say anything about the new government, he added.
