Bhopal: Newly elected Congress government is taking most of its decisions viewing Lok Sabha elections. Expecting the imposition of model code of conduct for the polls in coming months, the state government is making quick moves. Now the higher education department has issued instructions to transfer benefits in students’ accounts by January 31.
This is for the first time that the department has fixed dates for online application and online benefit transfer. Higher education department has fixed the responsibility as well for any lapse in delivery. There are several government schemes’ in place for the college going students including Gaon ki Beti, Pratibha Kiran, Vikramaditya scheme and others.
Under these schemes students are eligible for financial assistance under various categories. This year the higher education department has issued strict instructions to transfer benefits to students’ bank accounts by January end. The order issued by the higher education department categorically states that all benefits should reach students by January 31. Principal would remain responsible in case of any failure, lapses or complaint made by any student.
Principals of the colleges are instructed to adopt all means to publicise the dates for applying for various schemes among students. They will have to display the information at notice boards in colleges, put banners and through wall writings in college premises. “Principals should send the message (SMS) to all students that the last date for application for all schemes is January 15,” reads the order. The letter sent to all colleges across the state says that if any complaint is made in CM Helpline, action against the concerned additional director and principal would be taken.
