BHOPAL: Giving concrete shape to the Madhya Pradesh chief minister’s announcement at Mandla on April 23 regarding giving Narmada the status of a living entity, the state cabinet, on Tuesday, cleared a resolution for giving Narmada the status of a juridical person / living entity. The resolution will be presented the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday. An official press release that the decision had been taken in view of the history and importance of the River and the beliefs associated with it. It would ensure that Naramada continues to flow unabated, is kept free from pollution and its acquatic bio-diversity is preserved and protected.
Day-long session to ratify GST Bill
A day-long session of the state assembly has been convened on Wednesday to pass the Goods and Services Tax Bill, which has already received the nod of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Many states have already ratified the bill, the deadline for which is May 31. As the Governor is yet to prorogue the budget session of the House, this sitting will be a part of the budget session. Only the GST Bill will be discussed in the sitting. Sources said that call-attention motion and questions etc would not be entertained.
