Bhopal: The Congress may not have begun its fight at the ground level for state assembly elections, but its leaders are targeting BJP government on the Twitter on a daily basis.

BJP leaders have been proven weak going by their silence in the wake of these attacks by the Congress leaders including Congress state president Kamal Nath, MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and leader of opposition Ajay Singh.

The BJP leaders generally use their Twitter accounts for issuing greetings and obituaries. Some leaders also mention about the developmental works done by the Centre and the state government but nobody is hitting back on the allegations and challenges of Congress leaders.

The official Twitter account of BJP is also not responding to the allegations of Congress leaders. Kamal Nath grills the state government through four to five tweets daily. Kamal Nath on Monday attacked the state government on the issue of farmers, houses to SC, ST and poor.

Scindia too, on the lines of giving Fitness Challenge, is challenging CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the issue of good governance. Scindia also challenged him on the issues of malnutrition, matters related to women, employment and farmers.

Former CM Digvijay Singh who hogged the limelight by challenging the BJP leaders to do a ‘narmada parikrama’ is now grilling the state and the Central government together with his tweets. Other Congress leaders are also quite active in attacking the government.

On the other hand BJP’s state leadership seems to be on their back foot for now as none of its leaders including its state president Rakesh Singh, organization general secetary Suhas Bhagat or any of its ministers is not responding to the attacks of Congress leaders.

Mrinal Pant, Congress spokesman, who is also looking into social media affairs, said that the work of exposing the failures of the state government would be intensified. He said social media will be utilized to increase party’s reach and also to highlight the failures of the BJP government.

While BJP’s social media incharge Shivraj Dabi said that because BJP is in power we need to think before replying to anything. He said we remain silent on several occasions when Congress leaders level their allegations merely on the basis of newspaper cuttings.

Dabi added that although their top leaders might not be replying but their party workers do write their views. Dabi gave away the secret when he said, “Sometimes silent mode is also adapted to stop an issue from flaring up.”

Meaningful silence?

CM has made the plank of developmental works done by him in the state as his basis to contest elections but no BJP leader is coming in open directly to challenge the series of attacks in the form of allegations leveled against the state government.
