BHOPAL: It was Khargone’s turn to record highest temperature of 47 degrees Celsius in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Other cities that did not record this high, people there were forced to remain indoors to save themselves from the scorching heat. While news of monsoon hitting Kerala coast was a relief but MP has not witnessed any pre-monsoon activity till now. Temperature across the state remained above 42 degrees Celsius barring few places. Extent of heat could be imagined that streets remain deserted throughout the day. Even the evenings remain hot. Citizens of Bhopal did not receive any respite even on Saturday that recorded a high of 45.1 degrees. Even the nights brought no relief to the denizens as night temperature hovered around 31.6 degrees Celsius. Indore recorded a high of 43.4 and a minimum of 29.2 degrees Celsius.
Shajapur is the second hottest place in MP with 46 degrees Celsius. Raisen at 45.8 and Rajgarh 45.7 too reeled under heat wave for past one week. Same conditions prevailed in Khajuraho and Naugaon that have been recording temperature above 45 degrees for past one week. They recorded 45.6 degrees on Saturday. Things were not better even for others parts of the state. Gwalior continued to record hot with 45.4 degrees on Saturday; Rewa recorded 45.2 while Shivpuri boiled at 45 degrees Celsius. Guna and Ratlam recorded a high of 44.8 degrees, Hoshangabad and Damoh had a high of 44.5, Tikamgarh 44.4 and Ujjain recorded a high of 44 degrees Celsius.
