Hoshangabad: No son or daughter of the state should remain deprived of education. This is what the government and the chief minister wants. Vidya Bharati is doing commendable work in the field of education. Besides lighting the lamp of knowledge, it is also inculcating moral values in the students. Those passing out from institutions run by Vidya Bharati will make a mark in the world.

This was stated by Minister for Food Processing and Horticulture and minister in-charge of the district at the concluding function of a two-day Maths workshop organised at Govindnagar in the Bankhedi block of the district by Vidya Bharati.

He also dedicated the new Maths laboratory of the Saraswati Gramodaya School to the students. The laboratory will be used to introduce the students to complex mathematical concepts through models made from waste material. The minister said that he would try to ensure that similar laboratories come up in other schools of the state.

Director general of MAPCOST Dr Navin Chandra said that ancient India had an advanced understanding of mathematical concepts. The decimal system and zero are India’s invaluable gifts to the world. He said that our ancient sages knew that the earth goes round the sun and the moon revolves around the earth. They had discovered the means for measuring the distance between planets. He said that software designed by Indian engineers commands the highest price in the global market. The DG said mathematics is the mother of all sciences.

Dr P. Satyanarain, master trainer in mathematics from Andhra Pradesh said that mathematics is an interesting subject provided one is able to grasp its basic concepts. Hitanand Sharma, Madhya Bharat in-charge of Vidya Bharati said that the organisation is running 12,000 schools in the country.
