Villagers of Gaukhedi of Ichhawar assembly in Sehore district staged a unique protest at election commission office on Saturday. Around 700 voters of the village had boycotted polling on November 28. They had asking politicians, irrespective of party affiliations, to provide basic facilities in their village. They wanted the Election Commission that works towards creating mass awareness on increasing voting percentage, to get their demands fulfilled.

An aged villager said that the village lacks a school. The girls have no scope of education after clearing class VIII. The village is also deprived of irrigation facility. “We have appealed to all netas but in vain. Hence we are here with a hope,” said the senior citizen.  The group was made up of villagers of four different generations. They said that if their demands are not met then the village will boycott voting again in the upcoming elections.
