Bhopal: An additional superintendent of police (ASP) and two SHOs were called on Thursday to ensure smooth municipal mobile court proceedings in Bairagarh after the traders staged protest.
The court penalized 104 traders for evading civic tax and collected total fine of Rs 2.45 lakh on the day. The shopkeepers and traders staged protest and even tried to interrupt the court proceedings the municipal court went to fine the civic tax evaders. As the court of municipal magistrate Rohit Shrivastava arrived on Thursday afternoon, the shopkeepers and traders started making an exit to escape from imposition of fine.
The court also visited other areas including Lalghati square and Halalpura bus stand where the crackers are sold. In a bid to stop the court from coming to the area, the traders blocked Chanchal Square. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Zone 4 Dinesh Kaushal along with SHO Gandhi Nagar and SHO Bairagarh came to the spot to take control over the situation.
Police teams disbursed the mob and ensured that court proceeding was carried out smoothly. The traders claiming that they were carrying out their business as per rule, staged protest against the action of the mobile court. As many as 78 shopkeepers were fined in Bairagarh. Penalty on 40 shopkeepers were slapped on the spot, while warrant will be issued against 38 others who fled from the scene.
Similarly, 14 shopkeepers were fined near Halalpura bus stand and 14 at Lalghati square, while 9 shopkeepers were booked for fleeing. These 18 shopkeepers will also be booked for violation of rules and now warrant will be issued against them.
