Bhopal: The man accused of allegedly raping and murdering nine-year-old in Bhopal was arrested from Khandwa on Monday. He was brought to Bhopal in evening.
He took a train to Indore on Sunday morning and from there took a bus to Khandwa. He was found loitering around in a disturbed state of mind. Sources claimed that on being arrested, he pleaded with the police team to kill him instead of taking him to Bhopal as he was repenting the act.
He allegedly told the police that he saw the girl returning from a shop and dragged her inside his shanty.
Initially he persuaded the girl to stay silent. A police officer who interrogated the accused, told Free Press that the accused told them that as the girl raised her voice, he strangulated her to death.
Later, he raped the body. The accused told the cops that he stayed with the body through the night and later on Sunday morning left for Indore. Before leaving the area, he dumped the body near victim's house.
Sources said that the victim died of asphyxiation as the accused tried to stop her from alerting others. The realization that she has died dawned on the accused after she did not respond even during the rape.
Alarmed at the turn of the situation, he tried to wake up. However, he gave up the attempt after he saw the girl's relatives searching for her in the area. He dumped the body and escaped only after the family members gave up the search.
