Bhopal: An eight-year-old Class 3 girl was abducted and then raped by a 51-year-old neighbour in Jehangirabad. The accused was later arrested.

The victim’s parents were out for work and she was alone in the house with her 6-year-old brother when the accused lured her to his house on pretext of food where he locked the doors and reportedly raped her. The police said victim’s mother in her complaint stated that she lived in Om Nagar locality in front of Birla Mandir along with her 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. Her husband worked in a hotel in Itarsi and lived there while she worked in a dairy in TT Nagar.

She further stated that the incident took place on March 22, while she had gone for work and the children were alone in the house. At around 3 pm, accused Dilip Lama, 51, who resides in front of their house, called the children to delicious food, when they were playing. When she asked him to take her brother too he denied.

The traumatised girl kept mum when her mother came back. The incident came to light when her mother took her for bath. When she saw her blood stained clothes she was shocked. When she checked the girl’s private parts she found injuries and understood everything. She was shocked when the survivor said, “Dada raped me.” She reached the Jehangirabad police station to file a complaint. The police registered a case on charges of rape under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act and took the accused into custody.
