Bhopal: Three incidents of chain snatching in an hour and that too under the same police station rattled the citizens. All the incidents occurred with elderly women who live in Saket Nagar and Alkapuri. The first incident occurred in Alkapuri area where the complainant 75-year-old Sheela Agrawal, was walking towards a nearby house. The accused waylaid her and one of them snatched her gold chain.
The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm. She then filed a complaint with police with her son who is an AGM in BHEL. The next incident took place in Saket Nagar near the boundary wall of Barakatullah Universit, where the accused approached the 73-year-old Poornima Dev and inquired about an address.
The woman told them the address, meanwhile one of them arrived near her and snatched her chain and sat on the bike of his friend and fled the scene. The incident occurred at around 11:30 am. She then filed a police complainat, with her husband. In another incident, a 73-year-old woman who was taking a walk near her house was relieved of her gold chain.
According to the complainant the accused stopped their bike near her and before she could understand anything, one of them snatched her chain. She told that she even tried to resist it but he punched in her face and fled the area on their two-wheeler. The complainant then filed a complaint with police. Deputy inspector general (DIG) Bhopal Irshaad Wali said that the accused have been identified and will be arrested soon. He said that the accused are youths who are involved in other chain snatching incidents, he added.
