Ratlam: About 135 women polling booths will be set up in the district where all the employees and officials will be females only. Similarly, 15 ideal polling booths will also come up in the district where minimum basic facilities will also be made available. This was stated by district election officer and collector Ruchika Chauhan while sharing with media persons detailed information about the preparations for the polling to be held in the ensuing parliament election in the district on May 19.

DEO said that Ratlam district has 10,02,497 voters and gender ratio is 968 female voters against 1,000 male voters. She said that special arrangements are being made at the 293 polling booths identified as critical where paramilitary force would be deployed, webcasting, CCTV coverage and videography will be held and micro observers will be posted. Speaking about the implementation of the election’s Model Code of Conduct in the district she said that so far eight FIRs have been filed against the violation of MCC.
FST, SST teams have seized more than Rs 30 lakh in cash and more than 10,000 liter illegal liquor has been seized. Target has been fixed for the district to achieve at least 80% polling for which continuous SVEEP activities are taking place. DEO informed that timings of the polling will be from 7 am to 6 pm on May 19.
SP Gaurav Tiwari informed in the press conference that 3,154 warrants have been served in the district and 3,618 weapons have been deposited in various police stations of the district. Tiwari said that illicit liquor of the value of more than 1.80 crore has been seized. Under prohibitory action, bond over of 1,538 persons has taken place under various sections of IPCC.
He informed that for the fair and peaceful parliament poll in the district more than 5,000 police and paramilitary forces would be required to be deployed. He also informed that at the borders of the district, 30 check posts have been created which include 14 interstate check posts and 16 inter district check posts.
