NAGDA : The collector has ordered imposition of section 144 for the whole year to keep a check on schools that pressurise parents to buy school books, stationary and uniforms from some particular shops and shops who sell items in collusion with such schools. The district education officers have been ordered to keep a close vigil on private school operators. The collector has also ordered that administration will initiate investigation on any complaint by student or guardian in this regard. A letter has been given to the police officials of Nagda Mandi for action against shops who were found selling books, stationary and uniforms bearing monograms of some schools. The SDM Rajeev Ranjan Meena had seized items from shops after investigation. He then ordered the block education officer to initiate legal action. The action initiated by the SDM has sent shock waves among stationary shops as well as in private school managers. Sources say that apparently private school take recognition from the state government but they do not prescribe MP Board books and run syllabus according to private book publishers. Such private book publishers pay hefty commission to schools to get their books included in the syllabus. This has been a practice for a long time but the administration has taken cognizance to complaints only this time around. Political angle: According to sources, all the complaints against shops and schools have been made by people associated with political parties. No student or guardian had made any complaint, sources claim. Besides, no action has been initiated schools that are behind such malpractices.
