BHOPAL : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state unit staged demonstration in a unique way at Jinsi Square protesting the dilapidated roads across the state on Thursday.
The party workers, as a mark of protest, planted saplings in the potholed roads. These potholes were named after ministers and MLAs.
AAP state convener Alok Agarwal, said the roads stretching 800 kilometres in Bhopal were constructed before elections of the municipal corporation and most of them have been badly damaged. These roads are under guarantee period but the government is not taking action against contractors. Agarwal claimed that the government might be blaming rains for the damage but the quality of roads was substandard due to corruption. He said the roads in the state are in bad shape and they have developed potholes leading to inconvenience to people.
The AAP demanded that the roads should be repaired within fifteen days and strict action should be taken against the contractors. Besides, action should also be taken after probe by high power committee. The AAP state unit has threatened that if action is not taken then the party would intensify its protest against the government.
