3 killed in truck-tractor collision

Khategaon : Three persons were killed in a truck-tractor collision took place at Indore-Betul highway on Friday evening.

As per the information, a sand laden truck was heading towards Mawas village from Khategaon when it collided with a tractor coming from the opposite side near Khategaon-Sandalpur road. The collision was so intense that truck driver identified as Om Prakash (35) and tractor driver Kamal (60) died on the spot.

Other passengers identified as Lakhanlal (50), Santosh (22) and Balram (30), travelling in the tractor suffered severe injuries. Out of the injured, Lakhanlal succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital. It may be noted that the accidents have been rising on the Indore-Betul Highway due to recklessness of the truck drivers but the administration didn’t bother to take any action to control the speed of vehicles. In the public meeting organized at regional station premises, residents asked the police superintendent Abhay Singh to keep strict check on the overloading vehicles on which Singh assured to take prompt action but till now nothing has been done.
