Around 1000 from Indore had registered for last summit, leading to chaos
BHOPAL : The industries department, drawing a lesson from the chaos and mismanagement owing to over-crowding in earlier Global Investors Summits (GIS), has changed its policy regarding participation in the Summit. Only selected people will be invited to the upcoming GIS. More than 2200 requests for participation in the Summit have been turned down this time.
Around 4000 companies and persons had registered themselves on TRIFAC’s website to attend GIS. In GIS 2014, around 1000 persons from Indore alone had registered themselves as participants though they had nothing to do with investment and setting up of industries in the state.
The big crowd at the summit venue created problems for serious investors. They had to struggle for getting accommodation, meals etc.
In view of the experience of the last summit, the process for registration for GIS has been changed this time. Whosoever wishes to attend GIS has to register his name, mobile number and company’s name on TRIFAC’s website. The officials of industries department then confirm the profile of the concerned company. If the investor is found serious then a password is sent to his mobile number for registration. The software does not allow one mobile number to be used for registration more than once. The invitees will be issued bar-coded entry passes so that only the person, on whose name the pass has been issued, can enter the venue.
Industrial Centre Development Corporation, managing director, JN Vyas, commenting on the complicated process of registration for GIS, said only selected persons will be invited for GIS this time. He said 1000 persons from state, 1500 from outside state and 500 investors from abroad will be invited. Vyas said these changes have been made taking lessons from the previous Summit. He said top industrialists have been sent invitations separately.
