Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A two-day-old newborn was found crying, wrapped in red cloth, inside the toilet of the Rajya Rani Express train near Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on Saturday.

As soon as the passengers in the general coach noticed the baby crying, they immediately informed railway authorities.

Later, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and female members of NGO Aawaaz rescued the new-born at Madhya Pradesh’s Bina Junction.

As the train arrived, the baby was carefully taken out and rushed to the civil hospital for medical attention. However, due to a lack of proper facilities and pediatric specialists, the child was later referred to Sagar for better care.

Baby is healthy, adoption requests received

Initial medical checks confirmed that the baby is healthy and appears to be about two days old. Authorities are now trying to identify the biological parents. Meanwhile, several people have shown interest in adopting the child.

ASI Subhash Mishra of GRP Bina stated that an investigation is underway on the matter.

Members of the State Child Rights Protection Commission, emphasised that instead of abandoning children unsafely, parents in distress should use official child shelters (Shishu Grah or Palna Ghar).

These shelters have special cradles outside where babies can be safely left, especially during emergencies. The children are then taken in, cared for, and placed for legal adoption through proper procedures.

In such cases, people are encouraged to contact the toll-free child helpline number 1098 for help and guidance.
