BHOPAL : The TT Nagar police, on Thursday, busted a gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 19 vehicles from their possession including 17 bikes and two cars. The accused had a passion for riding new bikes and a lavish lifestyle. The accused used to come by bus to the city and after stealing the bikes used to park them in the parking lots of the city and on finding convenient used to sell them in the neighbouring rural areas.
SP South Anshuman Singh said that on Wednesday the TT Nagar police got a tip off from an informer that some suspicious people were looking for customer to sell their bikes in Dusshera Ground in TT Nagar. Police acting on the tip-off stopped four people and asked them to produce the documents for the bikes. The accused couldn’t produce any documents and during further quizzing confessed to having lifted the bikes. Police seized their bikes and brought them to the station, where, during interrogation the accused revealed having been involved in vehicle lifting in the various areas under police stations of the city including TT Nagar, Aishbagh, Misrod, Govindpura, MP Nagar, Habibganj and many police stations of Raisen district including Mandideep, Begumganj, Umravganj along with others.
The accused were identified as Gulab Thakur, 30, son of Madan Singh, resident of Bharkachh, Raisen and currently residing at Mandideep, Arjun Lodhi, 22, son of Tulsiram Lodhi, Silari village within the limits of Sultanpur police station Raisen, Hemant Keer, 21, son of Mishrilal Keer, resident of Ghat Pipalya Raisen, Mukesh Rajak, 23, son of Pooran Rajak, resident of Silari village Raisen and Santosh Yadav, 35, son of Babulal Yadav, resident of Semra village under Ashoka Garden police station Bhopal.
The mastermind of the gang is Gulab Thakur who left his house at Raisen and was living in Mandideep where he was working as a labourer. He befriended all the accused and involved them in crime. He was arrested in a similar vehicle lifting case at Hanumanganj police station. He started selling stolen vehicles through the others in rural areas and later formed a gang.
