BHOPAL : A 16-year-old girl concocted a story of her death and eloped with her boyfriend on Tuesday. She persuaded her 9-year-old sister to tell her mother that she had drowned in an abandoned quarry. The younger sister did her bidding and police was informed. The incident happened in the Ayodhya Nagar area,
A police team, along with four BMC divers, reached at quarry located near Saint Thomas School but the body of girl was not found. Later the true story emerged,
Govindpura CSP Dr Shiva Dayal, talking to Free Press said that Aarti Sahu, resident of Ayodhya Nagar area on Tuesday morning told her younger sister Arpita that she was going somewhere and when their mother returns from work, Arpita should tell her that she had drowned in quarry near Saint Thomas School. Her mother Sashi Sahu returned home in the afternoon and inquired about Aarti from Arpita who replied that in the morning they both went to quarry near the school to take bath where Aarti slipped into the water and drowned.
However the story took a new turn when a neighbour Radha Namdev told her and police that she had seen Aarti around 11:30 am wearing a new dress with her face covered and going somewhere along with a 20-year old youth Govind resident of the same locality. Police have registered a case under section 363 of the IPC against Govind following the complaint received from missing girl’s mother and launched a manhunt to nab him.
