Well yes, though not just Suzuki Ignis, but also the likes of KUV100 and a hoard of other SUV-ish design cars, who make claims of rugged appeal and incomparable practicality. You see, Renault showcased Climber and Racer concepts of its Kwid at the recently culminated 2016 Indian Auto Expo and even though we were really excited to see the new kid on the Micro-SUV block – the Ignis, its thunder was marginally diminished by the French automaker’s offering.

Think about it, Ignis – a Micro-SUV that claims it can tread over snow, gravel and everything else which mother nature can put in its path. All of this with a ground clearance of 180mm (derived from the Japanese-spec), the same ride height seen on the Kwid. What else? Upright seating? Check! Both the cars have that, SUV-esque looks? Kwid’s aesthetics are a lot more muscular than as compared to the sharp design approach seen on the Ignis concept. And lastly, what about creature comforts? Sure, going head-to-head with Ignis’s retro-modern styling are Kwid’s features which includes an all-digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a lot more.

It is quite evident that we can not ignore the price tags of these cars. It is expected that the 1-litre AMT variant of Kwid will be launched at somewhere around Rs. 3.5 lac, whereas we expect Ignis’s prices to start in the ballpark of Rs. 5 lac mark. That should put things in perspective for you.

It is also not to be ignored that there will be a relative difference in terms of power figures, safety and the overall quality of the two cars, but remember every good deal has an asterisk on top.
