The Nissan Micra Rio special edition has been spotted – fully uncovered, and with the updates made in the new edition quite evident – in Brazil. As the name suggests, this is a limited version of Micra and, as per reports, the automaker will be manufacturing only 1,000 of these cars.

The Rio edition is basically a modification of the top-end SL variant of Micra. Major changes that can be spotted at first glance include smoked headlamps/tail-lamps and orange accents of “Rio 2016” at various places on the body. It is to be noted that Brazil will host the Olympics 2016, after it recently concluded the FIFA World Cup. The Olympic Games are also called “Rio 2016” and the orange accents on the car have been introduced in celebration of the same. Other upgrades include a sporty black roof and glossy black alloy wheels. On the rear, the hatch gets a body-coloured diffuser with orange accents at the lower side.

The Japanese carmaker is launching this edition when the Micra is about to complete its life cycle. It has been widely reported that the automaker is working on a next-generation model which is now in the final phase of development. Known as ‘Nissan March’ in Brazil, the special version of the vehicle is powered by a 1.6-litre mill producing a maximum power of 110bhp and 148Nm of torque.

Nissan recently appeared at the Indian Auto Expo 2016 with its revamped line-up. It launched the World Cup edition of Micra at the event as the cricket tournament is round the corner in India. The Indian model is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor, churning out 67bhp of power with 104Nm of torque.
