Things have been looking rosy for the British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India ever since the takeover by Tata Motors. And the transition can now be witnessed in the form of the company’s first performance SUV – the Jaguar F-Pace – the prices of which were announced ahead of its October 20 launch, on Thursday.
To be sold as a CBU, the F-Pace will start at a price of Rs 68.4 lakh for the base 2.0-litre diesel ‘Pure’ variant; going all the way up to Rs 1.12 crore (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 3.0-litre diesel ‘First Edition’, Jaguar informed via a press release. The company also officially flagged off the bookings for the car that can be carried out both online and at the 23 authorised Jaguar dealerships across the country.
On the occasion, president of JLR India Ltd, Rohit Suri said, “The launch of F-Pace in India on October 20 marks a significant milestone in the expansion of Jaguar’s product offering in India. F-PACE is Jaguar’s first performance SUV and is sure to capture hearts and minds of Jaguar fans and its distinguished & discerning customers spread across India.”
Talking about the car, it has been built on the aluminium intensive platform that also underpins another recent offering from the carmaker, the Jaguar XE. Along with this, the manufacturer has further cut down on the weight of the car by employing composites in the tailgate and magnesium in the cross-bar beam.

The design is highlighted by the signature Jaguar honeycomb mesh front grille, which is flanked by ‘adaptive LED’ headlamps with ‘J-blade’ daytime running lamps (DRLs). Full LED tail lights further add to the distinctive design language of the SUV.
There aren’t many surprises at the heart of things though, as the F-Pace will only be offered as a diesel. However, customers can choose between the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged Ingenium mill and 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged motor. While the former churns out 179.5PS of power, the latter is good for no less than 300.5 horses and 700Nm.
In terms of features, the Jaguar F-Pace will offer an activity key, a 25.91 cm (10.2-inch) tablet-style touch-screen and derived chassis technologies like Torque Vectoring and Adaptive Dynamics. Other features would include park assist, cruise control, Jaguar Drive Control, gesture tailgate, two-zone climate control, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) and Dynamics Stability Control (DSC), along with safety offerings like ABS and EBD.
In India’s performance SUV segment, the Jaguar F-Pace will share space with the likes of the Range Rover Evoque, the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
