Honda India will be launching the BR-V crossover on 5 May 2016 in the Indian market. This SUV was earlier spotted at the 2016 Auto Expo. Honda’s answer to the Creta, the BR-V is a practical seven-seater crossover in the land of five-seater SUVs. Other than the Creta, the BR-V will also take on the Terrano–Duster duo and the S-Cross from Maruti. Honda recently updated the Amaze with much-needed changes and is definitely on the right track in the Indian auto space.

The front of the BR-V is made to look like an SUV, but the side profile is quite reminiscent of an MPV. Chunky cladding and side steppers have been added to give it a tougher look. The front features a large single-slat chrome grille which is underlined by yet another chrome strip. Adding to the looks is a skid plate below the large air dam. The grill merges well into the large headlamp units which feature projectors and light guides.

The rear is rather simple with big, angular tail light units and a fat chrome bar sitting above the number plate. The BR-V shares its underpinnings with the Amaze compact sedan and the Mobilio MPV. The interiors follow a design theme similar to the Honda City. The BR-V is longer than the Mobilio and has a longer wheelbase as well. This should liberate more space inside the cabin, especially in the third row.

The engines have been carried forward from the City as well. The 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.5-litre petrol will power the BR-V However, we expect Honda to alter the tuning to suit the weight. We will be driving the BR-V soon. Do stay tuned for an in-depth review and rear our segment comparison to know where BR-V stands. . Let us know what you think of the BR-V in the comments section below.
