Honda Cars India will continue to sell select variants of the second-generation Amaze alongside the newly launched third-generation model. This strategy follows a similar approach see with the Honda City, where the fourth and fifth generations were available together for a period. By retaining the older Amaze, Honda aims to offer customers more choices in the compact sedan market. This move is comparable to Maruti Suzuki’s practice of selling two generations of the Dzire simultaneously, catering to a broader range of buyers.

Honda has decided to retain the second-generation Amaze in S and VX variants, priced at Rs 7.71 lakh and Rs 9.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. The move positions the older model as a cost-effective alternative to the recently launched third-generation Amaze, which is priced from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10.9 lakh. The new Amaze, featuring Honda Sensing ADAS and 15-inch alloy wheels in the top-spec ZX trim, targets buyers seeking advanced features.

Meanwhile, the second-gen Amaze will appeal to budget-conscious customers, with an option for petrol-CNG conversion available through RTO-approved centers. Unlike Maruti Suzuki's fleet-focused Tour S variant of the Dzire, Honda will market the older Amaze to a wider audience, ensuring competitiveness against models like the Hyundai Aura and Maruti Dzire.

Honda Amaze second and third generations share the same 1.2-litre, 90hp petrol engine, but only the third-gen model offers a CVT gearbox option along with the standard five-speed manual. The older Amaze is limited to a manual transmission and is currently available in two variants, S and VX, though this may soon be reduced to a single trim. To further differentiate the two models, Honda is considering lowering the prices of the second-gen Amaze, making it a more affordable choice for buyers on a budget.
