NSUI, ABVP clash at GACC, one hurt

Though the student union elections in the state colleges will be held on September 23, two students wings of major political parties have intensified their preparation for the same.

tivists of National Student Union of India ( NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ( ABVP) clashed in Government Arts and Commerce College ( GACC) in which one student was injured.

According to sources, at least 50 NSUI workers reached GACC for campaigning.

When campaigning was in progress, activists of the ABVP reached there and objected to the campaigning leading to heated arguments between the two factions.

Soon the dispute escalated and workers of the NSUI attacked the ABVP workers with iron rods.

Meanwhile, some more ABVP workers arrived the scene and a full- scale brawl occurred in the college. Later police reached the spot and managed to bring members of both groups to the police station. Initially, police registered a case on the complaint of one student, Maqsood, later cases were registered against members of both the groups.

Irked over development, the NSUI workers forced a bandh at Vaishnav College, on Saturday morning.

They alleged that the ABVP workers were collecting money from students in the pretext of union elections.
