HC asks Sakal whether shares are transferred in Lila Parulekars name

s transferred 41.4 per cent of its shares in the name of Lila Parulekar, coowner of the paper and the daughter of its founder, Nanasaheb Parulekar. The Supreme Court, in 2005, had passed an order directing the newspaper to transfer the shares in Lila Parulekars name. alt39alt39alt39alt39Sakalalt39 is currently run by Pratap Pawar, younger brother of NCP president and Union Minister Sharad Pawar. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Roshan Dalvi on Friday, while hearing a public interest litigation filed by Pranoti Vyas, sought an affidavit from Sakal. The PIL alleges that, no one is taking care of an ailing Parulekar in her Pune bungalow, and of her pet animals.
Appearing for Parulekar, Advocate Sunil Kadam told the court, that he was not aware if the shares had been transferred. Irked by the statement, judges said, ” You claim to have been with Lila since 15 years and taking care of her legal matters. How come you donalt39t know whether the Supreme Court directions have been complied with or not?” The court then directed Kadam to file an affidavit giving details of Lilas bank accounts. Manoj Oswal, member of NGO alt39alt39alt39alt39Jeevan Raksha Animal Welfare Trustalt39, which was founded by Lila Parulekar to take care of over 300 pet animals staying at her bungalow, informed the court that despite courts directions, Lilas guards did not allow them to meet her.
HC transfers armed assault case of Pune- based housewife to crime branch
Mumbai: The Bombay High court on Friday transferred the case of armed assault on Pune- based housewife to crime branch under the supervision of ACP and also directed initiation of an inquiry against the investigation officer in the case. The order was passed by a division bench comprising Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice Dhanuka of the Bombay High Court.
The High Court heard a petition filed by Pune based housewife Dipali Lanke, the petitioner. In her petition she had alleged that even though the accused committed an attempt to murder, the police had not taken any action against them. A FIR had been registered by her with the Vishrantiwadi police station.
According to the petition filed by Lanke, the accused came to her house armed with a deadly knife and assaulted her brutally.
HC withdraws contempt notice issued against cop
The Bombay High Court on Friday withdrew its contempt notice, issued against an assistant commissioner of police for talking on his mobile phone inside the courtroom after the senior officer issued an unconditional apology. A division bench, headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, had last week issued show- cause notice for contempt of court against A V Patil, assistant commissioner of police from Bhiwandi for talking on his phone while the court was in session. The court had then directed Patil to file his reply by Friday, who tendered an unconditional apology, following which; the bench withdrew its contempt notice.
Chhota Rajan aide detained under MPDA Act
The Bombay HC confirmed Mandar Borkar the alleged Chhota Rajan aides detention under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities ( MPDA) Act for one year, Borivali police said.
Borkar had challenged the court his detention by the Borivali police. Borkar, 31, was booked by the Borivali police in October 2011, after his activities were found to be dangerous. He has five offences, including extortion and attempt to murder registered against him earlier. The MPDA Act is meant to amend the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug- offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981.
